Save on Nintendo Switch Games Granted, some of these games are a bit older, but if you haven’t played them, they’re new to you. The headliner of the bunch is Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, a full remake of a classic RPG from the GameCube era. I never had a GameCube, so I’m definitely picking this one up while it’s on sale. What We Said in the Review In case you’re wondering if it’s any good, check out our Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door review. In it, critic (and Nintendo expert) Logan Plant wrote: “Paper Mario has finally returned to its RPG roots with an amazingly loyal and visually dazzling remake of The Thousand-Year Door. Everything fans have been begging Nintendo to bring back is here, including a delightfully varied turn-based battle system with satisfying real-time elements and unique, lovable party members who are essential to both the story and gameplay. Rogueport and its surrounding areas are bursting with personality thanks to writing that’s just as sharp and funny today as it was in 2004. It also introduces a host of modern improvements that streamline (but don’t eliminate) the original’s backtracking issues, easily making this the best way to experience Mario’s quest to gather the Crystal Stars. There’s a reason The Thousand-Year Door has been considered one of the greatest Nintendo games for the last 20 years, and this brilliant remake ensures it will maintain that reputation for at least a thousand more.” And if you’re looking to pick up any of the other Switch games, you really can’t go wrong. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is excellent. I loved 3D World when it originally came out on the Wii U, and it holds up incredibly well today. Plus, Bowser’s Fury is an all-new smaller scope 3D Mario game, with a wide open world that’s filled with level-sized areas to platform through and conquer. It’s terrific. That’s saying nothing about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario Odyssey, and a couple of games that don’t feature Mario as well.
